Befriend your body. Rewrite the story of your life.

Hey There –
Welcome to the Journal.
My name is Sonja and I am a healer, erotic educator, and writer of magic words.
Here on the journal, you’ll find posts with inquiries and practices that guide you into your body so you can get in touch with the life force within it. I write about topics like eroticism, intimacy, practical intuition, embodiment, relationships, sex, and non woo-woo spirituality.
Check in each week for new posts. If you like what you read, check out my 1:1 work and group programs.
Dormant Energy is Energy.
The energy inside a seed or an egg is dormancy. The energy of that seed creating a plant that creates fruit or the egg turning into a baby chick is active. Neither types of energies are better nor worse. Just different.
What We Take for Granted
When is the moment a lover whose scent you once inhaled from dirty laundry becomes part of the woodwork? It’s a trick question because there is no defined moment; there is a slow erosion and a sudden realization.
Please and Thank You
Writer Anne Lamott says that our prayers fall into two categories: Please or Thank You.
How to Breathe
This is a friendly reminder to breathe. So go ahead: Release tension in your diaphragm and allow your body to do what it knows how to do.
It’s funny that we have to be reminded to do something that is controlled by the parts of our brains that require no thinking. But we all need that at times.
Plan to Poop
You didn’t possibly think I could write the first post without the second?
To set up for this post, allow me to quote myself from earlier this week:
Do You Speak Food?
When my family lived in Mexico, I began to understand that fluency in language is measured in confidence, not memorization.
Plan to Eat
All living beings abide by this rule: Take something in, move something out.
You can get all esoteric about this rule (trust me, given the opportunity, I will), but today I’d like you to take it literally. It’s another way of saying that you are going to have to eat, so you might as well plan for that.

Mastery Is
Nearly everyone who begins to study Ayurveda begins dispensing advice to everyone around them. Mom, you should try neti for your allergies. Dad, you should start meditating. Partner, here’s how we’re going to eat from now on. Child, practice yoga with me.
How to Ask a Question
Two weeks ago I got an answer to a question I’ve been asking for three years. Three years isn’t even my longest stint. I have questions I’ve been asking for 20 years or more.
The Way Our Brains Work
I am not a brain surgeon, but I am a student and teacher of Ayurveda. I am not the person to call when you have a tumor, but I am quite useful when you want to understand why you take less or more time to respond to a question (we can also talk about what your accuracy rate means).
To Leonie: A Love Letter on Your Fifth Birthday
You first came to me on a beam of moonlight that streamed through June’s open window. It was a time of mad love in my home, when your papa and I were dripping with so much of the stuff that we could think of nothing else but to create.
Pushpaputa Mudra: An Offering
Mudras are among the most subtle of the yoga practices. But subtle practices have the greatest effects. This one is simple, but powerful.
Pushpaputa is the mudra of offering flowers. Flowers offer their beauty to us because that is what they do. We offer flowers to the Great Mama in the same expression. With no expectation of receiving something in particular or even receiving at all, the offering is the gift.
The Definition of Freedom
To get free sometimes looks like you’re losing your mind. Because that is exactly what is happening.

In Your Words
“I am a changed person because of Sonja and so are my relationships.”
"I was surprised by how well Sonja really listened to me, and not just my words. She is present, and thus can find the deeper expression among all the rambling and 'I don’t knows.'"
"Sonja is a wise, authentic guide teaching deep and mind-blowing truths using a fun, light-hearted approach.
After each session, I feel more in touch with my intuition and filled with optimism."
“On this path effort never goes to waste, and there is no failure.”
