Befriend your body. Rewrite the story of your life.

Why do we think that the path to health must come through torture?

For example, I had a roommate once who never ate grain. She also ate standing up for every meal because it burned more calories. As far as I could tell she survived on nuts, triple Americanos, and intravenous infusions of dissatisfaction. By the book of modern diet trends that people seem to write in between burpees, she was healthy.

Here’s my definition of health, which is not modern, not a diet, and definitely not something I wrote while doing burpees:

Health is the courage to love ourselves fully and show that love  through how we live and what we eat.

It looks like this:

  • Some people would find more love for themselves by eating less grain.
  • Some people would find more love for themselves by changing the types of grain they eat.
  • Some people would really, really fall in love with themselves by eating more grain and eating it every day.

Where do you fall today?
