November Awake in The Nest: Surrender

by | Nov 17, 2021 | Journal, nourishment, The Nest | 0 comments

November’s Awake in The Nest recording is live! (Available to all Nest members at the Silver level and higher.)

Our theme this month is surrender. So we dove into the concept of safety, a critical component of feeling okay to surrender.

I draw upon the work of one of my teachers, Kasia Urbanik, whose experience as both a Taoist practitioner and a professional dominatrix trained her to identify two states of attention: dominant and submissive (what I call surrendered). I encourage you to play with these principles in all your seemingly mundane life experiences so you are prepared when something hits the fan.

Journal Prompts

We didn’t make it to the journaling, so I’m including them here for you to explore on your own time.

  1. Explore this question: In my natural state, do I fall more into the surrendered state (inward focus, I statements, exploring desires), or the dominant state (outward focus, you statements, sensing others’ desires)?
  2. Think of a relationship in your life. How do you mostly show up (dominant or surrendered)? How does the other person mostly show up?
  3. What external circumstances make it “safe enough” for you to surrender completely? If you’ve never experienced this state, imagine that you can.

Mark your calendars for next month — Wednesday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. PT. December’s theme is confusion.
